Haley Jeppson

Mathematics

My name is Haley Jeppson. I am a native of Utah and a wife and mother of a smiley 1-year-old. I love to meet new people, play pickleball, and listen to podcasts and books. I also love to tutor and teach math (especially calculus). I graduated from BYU with both my B.S. and M.A. in mathematics education. I spent 6 years in college studying and researching how to help students better understand math and become problem solvers. I am a firm believer in the power of a “growth mindset”: that with hard work and the right guidance, anyone can be successful at mathematics! One of my greatest joys is watching my stressed or jaded students begin to understand and enjoy math. My experience includes tutoring calculus for 3.5 years in the BYU math lab, 6 years of private tutoring to a variety of struggling students, student-teaching 8th grade, two years of teaching calculus and college algebra to about 160 BYU students each semester, and one semester teaching for ELIAS Academy – which I absolutely love! Additionally, I spent two years writing a thesis that proposes and tests a hypothetical learning trajectory for learning three calculus topics in a more connected and understandable way.
